About Me:

• Hello....My Name is Robert I. Cowles and I live in the Qu'Appelle Valley east of Craven, Saskatchewan. Although I've long since retired, I used to commute to the University of Regina on a daily basis.
  
  
• I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science, that I earned by studying Computer Vision under Dr.X.D. Yang. In particular, I work with ways of applying members of the family of Fourier Transformations to an arbitrary (non-rectangular) region of an image. Then, generating an encoding vector from that transformation and using it as a means of identifying the information within the region.
  
  
• In additional to my academic studies and research, I was a full time employee of the University, in my capacity as System Administrator for the Faculty of Science. I would frequently teach one class per semester as a Sessional Lecturer in Computer Science.
  
  
• I have a number of interests, which I once again have the time to indulge:
  
  
• Obviously mathematics - particularly those areas that can be exploited by computer scientists
  
  
• Making computers do interesting (but not necessarily useful) things
  
  
• Photography - particularly nature photography
  
  
• Fishing and other outdoor activities
  
  
• Reading just for the fun of it!
  
  
• Old horror movies - the hokier the better (especially the Japanese Monster Muppets like Godzilla)
